Recently, I had the opportunity to travel to Alaska with our son as he moved there for a full-time job. He had been traveling and was in the state of Washington for his last traveling job. Before Washington, we brought down one of our kittens to Louisiana to keep his other cat occupied.
After picking me up at the airport in Washington, we headed straight to his apartment. As our son opened the door, I was met by that same kitten we brought down and my mouth dropped! He was half the size larger than his sibling at home. It amazes me how fast he grew! He had broad shoulders and I could tell he was going to be a large cat. Most cats are scared of strangers and shy away but he was so loving and friendly.
His other cat, on the other hand, darted off as fast as she could. She wanted no part of me. It didn’t really surprise me much because she was always this way and always wanted attention on her terms. I had wondered what the difference was in the behavior between the two cats from the time we left them in Louisiana. At that time the two cats were growling at each other constantly and didn’t even want to get to know each other. I wasn’t sure what to expect.
My son has been sending pictures and showing videos of the two getting along but it was not anywhere near close to the affection that those two have for each other now. It made me think of how people are and how some growl at each other when they meet. Some feel there is competition and they have to stand their ground. Others pine away afraid of the competition and just turn to hide.
As with humans, there are those who are assertive and ready to meet others. There are some who would like to grab the attention and be the cat’s meow. Some like to show their claws right away and let you know they are in charge and they own the territory. Then, there are some who are not willing to be excepted and feel they are rejected with nowhere to go.
Human and cats are different, yet, they are similar. I have raised cats for the last 30 years and can tell you that there are cats in every category that I listed above. I have one who thinks he is the boss and eats everything up before the others get a chance. I have another who tucks her tail and hides. One is very particular and will not let you touch her and pet her unless she wants you to. And then there is one who would welcome any stray cat or any other cat around her.
Our stay in Washington was very brief and we spent a lot of time together as we flew into Alaska and I spent several weeks with him. The cat that hid from me and ran finally warmed up a little and allow me to pet her. Of course she would not let me hold her very long because she would always meow like I was choking her or something and dart out of my arms. At least she let me pet her and it was on her terms. Yet, she liked crawling under the feet end of the mattress sheets and sleeping near my feet!
Some humans kind of tend to be that way. They are quite reserved with their feelings and do not open up much at all. It’s like they are afraid or scared of what might be and will not budge to take a chance. They stay their distance yet want to be close. And sometimes that is understandable. Others tend to stop all over your feelings and make you feel less than you are.
I was amazed how these two cats adored each other so much and in the middle of the night if one did not see the other, it would meow until the other responded. I really kind of wish that people would be more this way. Today we see too much selfishness and “all about the me” attitude. Many tend to go about their own way and don’t take time for others.
And then you will find those who are truly God-fearing people and they care. They call and check up on you and they bring you things when you need them. There are some who go out of their way and do just about anything that is necessary. It makes me wonder why everyone can’t have this attitude.
We were going into a store in Alaska and we noticed some teenagers walking ahead of us and instead of waiting to open the door for an elderly couple, they rushed in and let the door slam behind them. My son rushed ahead to open the door for the elderly couple and that made me proud that we had raised him with a God like heart for love. Many do not have the sense of good ethic or morality anymore and it is sad.
Now cats can’t open doors mind you, but there are a few who will stand back and wait their turn to eat or get a drink. They know their place and are respective of rank. When I raise cats, I give them attention from the moment they are born. I start feeding and watering them as soon as they can be weened. I train them to be affectionate. Barn cats are different and I do not raise them because they are mean. They are not given a chance to socialize and understand love.
Humans are no different. You take care of an infant and they know love. You train that infant into God’s ways and they have trust and belief and they know love. However, you show no affection to an infant or children, they know cold-heartedness and fear. They are scared and have no trust or warmth for others. It is all about the example. What examples are shown in this world today?
Cats watch tv and they don’t understand a thing on it! They watch movement and like the sound, but they don’t understand. Kids do! Let them watch sex scenes and cussing, that’s what they will accept. Let them see obscenities and unnatural Godly intentions of what defines a marriage as husband and wife, they will grow to accept it. Never do you see a cat or other animals having relations with the same sex. This is not how God created them or humans.
Killing is a trait God gave them to hunt mice or smaller game for food. They keep mice turds and diseases from farm products and help control the varmint population. This is their nature. Humans were instructed by God to control the animals and it is right to eat meat for meals. Humans are told never to kill another human for sport and when you allow kids to watch killing and play killing games, they are being trained to sin and think it is ok.
Boiling it down, we must turn back to God’s plan for us and live according to His Bible. He had a plan for his animals like cats and He especially has His plans for Humans! Love makes all the difference in our lives and it removes bitterness and hatred! Love is the answer to rid this world of the atrocities happening! The kitty attitude verses the human attitude is very similar!
