Changing This World To Be More Respectable

This world has become so self-centered and rude to others and in my opinion, we need to do what we can to improve respect to each other. I see people walking around with a sour look on their face. Many do not show the joy that should be in their hearts. They lack the love of Christ and do not follow what his word said from the very beginning of time when it was created.

I see many young people today that could care less about those that are around them and all they are thinking of are themselves. For example, I pulled into a parking space at a store one day and noticed an older couple getting close to open the door of the store and a younger couple behind them. Th younger couple veered in front going through the door without leaving it open for the older couple. I was dumbfounded by the rudeness and wondered why these youngsters were not taught to be respectful.

A middle-age man dropped his papers one day and no one walking by him bothered to help him pick them up. I stepped forward and helped the man and he was very grateful. A group of young people were walking on the sidewalk in town and instead of going to the light and waiting to walk across, they darted out in front of cars and yelled obscenities because they felt they were right to just walk on across without obeying the cross lights ahead of them. They walked ever so slowly to irritate the drivers.

Young teenagers pushing carts through a store hit other carts as they made zig zags down an aisle, not caring about pinched fingers or babies being jerked from side to side in their own carts! I bet their brains felt like milk shakes by the time the child’s play was over! A lady in her mid sixties demanded a worker to get her something off of a shelf that was right in front of her own face without saying please or thanking her. She was loud and boisterous as she continued through the store.

I think you get my drift. People today seem to be so rude, uncaring, and thinking about themselves all the time. So if you will, I would like to list some helpful points to anyone who is willing to change their ways to be more respectful toward others. These are actually rules that God himself put into place from the very get-go of his word. They’re not some thing that I made up but it’s common sense and courtesy.

The famous verse in Matthew 7:12 says, “so in everything, do unto others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the law of the profits.” In a nutshell, if you feel like you would like to be hit by a cart or no one open the door for you when you need it, then I guess you wouldn’t do that for others. It is a shame that some are not taught to be respectful, they are not taught to say please or thank you, and they’re not taught to show love and courtesy to others. I guess this world today does not see God’s Word as it stood, stands, and will continue to stand forever!

I had a preacher not long ago that made the comment that if you go somewhere and you make a mess, you clean it up. If you drop some thing on the floor and you expect someone else to pick it up, then shame on you. This kind of goes along with what you say as well, If you make a mess of a situation and your mouth is not in its proper verse, then you make it right and you apologize and do what it takes to bring peace to a situation. This entails being honest and humble. God says those who practice lying will have no part of Heaven.

1 Peter 5:5 says to respect your elders those of you who are young. Clothe yourselves with humility toward one another it says! This means to open the door for others, especially the elderly who are struggling. If God allows it, you too will one day be old and wouldn’t you like for someone to help you? Stop being in such a hurry and stop being rude to others.

God loves a giving heart and this does not just include giving as in literal gift and things, but it means giving of yourself. Giving up your selfish ways and doing for others from your heart! Go out of your way to do for others and don’t brag about what you do because all you need to worry about is God seeing you and you doing your part in His world! We all will be held accountable for our knowledge and actions for what we do for Him!

Follow the laws and obey the rules and regulations of this world. God says in Romans 13 to obey the laws of the government because He ordained them, created them, for the very purpose of order. That being said, He added that we obey those laws unless it goes against His commands. For example, if the government tells you to pay for a baby to be murdered and His Bible says as it does in Mark 10:14 that children are innocent and we are to become like children for they are of Heaven and innocent, then you must follow God’s word and not man’s. His Word stands forever! Man’s can sometimes cause you to sin. God’s word tell us to be at peace with all as far as it depends on us. It does say to go stir trouble!

I see so many kids screaming back at their parents and sometimes hitting them. This is disobeying His command to honor your parents. At the same time, the parents are dishonoring God by not correcting their children’s behavior! It can be a vicious cycle. He says to train your children up in the way of The Lord and to use the rod to punish as to save their souls from hell. That is found in Proverbs. Now, beating and killing a child is not what He said. But good discipline with love is! There are boundaries!

When you are told by a teacher to do or not do something, have respect and listen. Do not be rebels and do not be mouthy! Obey your teachers as well. And here is a big one I am going to approach: If you are told by authorities to do or not do something, you better listen! You commit a crime or do something wrong, you have to obey and do as you are told! Period! Doing the opposite as you are told causes rivalry and frustration and you are not doing your part to be peaceful but are just stirring trouble where it does not belong! There is NO reward of Heaven for bad behavior! You put yourself in vulnerable positions and make bad choices, don’t put blame on anyone else and take responsibility for your actions!

if anyone thinks they are better than the next or if they think they have all the answers and have to be showy or the “cream of the crop,” you are mistaken! God says He shows NO partially. I challenge you to look online for those verses for there are a few! I challenge you to look for all of these! God’s commands for us are huge and we only have His allotted time for us to make it right! We are His workers and we have to be responsible and respectable! We only have two choices for our eternal outcome and that is Heaven or hell. And I stress again – eternal. Let that soak in a minute! Our behavior right now and our belief in Him and what we do about it determines where we go whether anyone believes or not! He was, He is, He always will be!

I know a few parents allowing their children to wear unbecoming clothing and go half naked because they are more a friend than a parent. You have to put your foot down and make them dress modestly! God gave Adam and Eve coverings for a reason! Cover up and have respect for others and yourself! God doesn’t care if you are being worldly and showing off your natural beauty, He wants your hearts and respect!

if you want to dive into His Word, He wills it that we all seek and find! His instructions for us are huge and the thought that so many are missing it is sad! You want to go to Heaven but you don’t follow His ways nor want to hear His Words and Scripture? You want to go to Heaven but only spend an hour a week at service and nothing more? What does Jesus think of this? Heaven is 24/7! If you don’t want to respect Him now, will you respect His decision later?
