Peace Instructed By God

I am saddened by the lack of peace in this world right now! We need peace more than ever! I ran across an old article I saved of my grandma when she was in her 80’s. I was so young and only have a few memories of her. I do remember how she strove for peace.

She was a strong woman and worked hard is one thing I do remember. She lost a few children and one they touched on in the article was killed when he pushed his boss out of the way from a rolling backwards concrete mixer. He was working at the ammunition plant and was building concrete ammunition storages.

They had been pouring concrete and he and his boss were smoothing the concrete behind the truck. The breaks gave out, which they heard later the truck was going into the shop right after for break issues, and my Uncle wasn’t able to get out but pushed his boss out of the way just in time. The truck wheel struck his head and crushed him instantly.

My Grandma didn’t want him going into the army during WW11 in the first place and wanted him to join some kind of group where you could sign a paper stating you were against war. He wanted to do his duty and join his friends. So, he joined and was at the plant working. Her passion for peace grew.

Even though it grew, so did the uneasiness and continuing war. Her mind set changed when my dad had to go. My Aunt told me she understood that she could lose a son at home as well as at war. One thing for sure, God is always in control of every situation and peace comes in many forms.

That understanding broke way for her fight for peace and I suspect not just for peace in our world, but also a peace to be found in our personal lives and hearts! This brings to my mind the Bible verse of Romans 12:18. It says, “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”

We each have a responsibility to live peacefully! I know there are many situations that arise where we are tempted and even I am not immune to the devil’s work. It is our faith in Christ that holds us through these situations. We may not understand why things happen the way they do, but we have to keep our focus on Heaven.

My Grandma fought for peace and wanted everyone to experience that same peace and understanding she had. Life vanished from right under her feet and she understood the urgency to find comfort, healing, and peace. War was happening and she had a war in her heart, yet she saw His glory in it all. She may not have understood at first, but with prayer and faith, she found it!

Yesterday our country experienced a different kind of upset! There are the news stories we all saw and continue to see and hear. Then, there are the videos and stories of those who were there and have a different view. It is confusing and causes anger in our every being to see and hear, yet not know what is true! There is an upset in our hearts and it brings upon worry and frustration!

That is how the devil works! He causes confusion and upset! He wants this world to be in a roar and he is getting what he wants! He not only works on us as individuals, but he also works on us as a whole. Our country is under attack! The world is under attack!

God says not to worry and let the worrying to Him. What are we all doing now? We are worrying about our future! We are worrying about the safety of our families. We are worrying about our leaders! If we all, I mean ALL, as a whole nation would come together and pray hard, the Almighty will hear and listen if we just believe in Him!

Our country needs to band together more than ever right now! We have to sincerely believe and turn toward our Creator and pray hard! Some say it is the end, some say we are turning into a socialist country, others say we have allowed the sin against His Word to take over, and some say we are in the beginnings of a country takeover by other countries!

Does anyone really know? No! Only God does. If we read those Old Testament stories that I spoke of in the blog last week, this is nothing new to God. His people always strayed from His Word and they were destroyed! It doesn’t matter if this is the case now or not, but what matters is the fact that we are turning to destructive thoughts and not to Him!

Peace is something I must strive for as well. On that note, it is not easy! I understand how easy it is to be pulled in to theories and worrying! One thing to understand is that our goals are in Heaven. If we all strive for His peace, we cannot go wrong. Please join me this day and forward in praying for peace and living peacefully as far as it depends on us! Thank you and God Bless each and every one of you!
