Using My Talent To Spread His Love

Jun 24, 2020 | Blog, Life

A lot changed in my heart and I was empowered to make a difference. If I only could help just one person, I knew I had to do my part! I was always worried about poor me and my feelings of being hurt. I was worried about what others thought of me.

I was really just stuck in worldly life and not where God wanted me. Those talents I talked about in previous posts came to life clearer than I myself could understand! I was determined to do what I could to make a difference by using my talents!

I thought I was doing His work when I had taught religion classes all those years and I realized those were baby steps in His plans for me. I had a new vision and an opportunity of starting an online business came about. My husband wanted me to do something different but at that point, I was determined to try my own way.

Another life lesson for later, but for now, the ideas I had were overwhelming. This company came around trying to get online businesses going. Smart on their part actually. I decided to begin a Personalized Poetry business.

By this, I opened up a Merchants Account, an Online Website, and whatever it took to get going. I wanted to portray God and Christ through my poetry. I lined up a company to buy frames wholesale and got my supplies in order.

The process I followed was fairly easy. First I would find a client who needed a personalized gift for someone. For example, someone might need an Anniversary gift for a couple celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They would provide a picture to use, information about the couple, and pick a frame or usually they just let me pick an 8”x10” frame.

Second, I made sure everyone knew I used God-like poetry to express in each poem. I would use the information they provided for this Anniversary Poem and create the poem specifically using their information. I would call to recite the poem to be sure they approved before going further.

Most would approve and only a few changed a thing or two, but it was fun getting to know these people I dealt with and the ones I’d never meet! Once approved, I would manipulate the photos given by using a photoshop program I had and type the poem accordingly among the best area of the photo. Many times, I’d use my own photos along with the photos they provided.

By the time I did a few, I about had it down to correct sizes and styles to fit the frames and not have to cut edges or redo much. I did Memorials, Weddings, Birthdays, Anniversaries, and more. My sister and I would go to craft shows and I would display a few and hand out business cards I created. I even did some Invitations and Save-The-Dates for some.

I really loved the fact that many did not mind that God and Christ was included in the poem. Unfortunately, the accounts and things were too expensive to keep up compared to the amount of business so I reluctantly quit the online business.

I had such a fire for the Lord and was not afraid to talk to clients or others about The Bible. I used Facebook and other social networks to put up verses and comment on His Word. It was my duty to do in the name of Jesus.

I probably came on a bit strong and there were a few Biblical arguments along the way, but His Word was His, not mine. If someone did not like it, there were excuses and other verses thrown back. But what some did not realize was that you just can’t pick a verse from the Bible without knowing the source or Chapter and verse it went with. The Bible has to read and be interpreted in its whole not partial.

I was determined! But, in being determined, I probably pushed a few away. I had not learned how to converse and tame my excitement yet. To me, everything made sense, but I had to take a step back and remember my roots.
