My Life Story My Way Day 19

Trying to balance college life, work, and spending time with my beau proved to be a challenge at times. I commuted to college and mostly lived at home but was also given an opportunity to stay a little closer to the college.

My much older brother and his wife had two small children and they needed someone to watch their kids here and there and it made sense to them if I agreed to stay with them. Of course I agreed and was so thankful for that opportunity! I was more thankful than anyone could imagine!

When I first moved in with them, they lived in an apartment and my room was upstairs. I had never stayed in town before and it was difficult getting used to the sirens at night and just town life. You couldn’t just go outside and do what you wanted without people being everywhere. In the country, you could see the stars at night and it was quiet. You could go outside and see trees and land instead of concrete and buildings. It was a change for sure.

It wasn’t long being in that apartment when they moved to a house that was actually closer to the college. There, I had the whole basement to myself and it was quieter. I was grateful for the chance to help and for their hospitality. I grew up a lot during that year and felt needed.

I lived with them mostly during the winter months and ended up moving back home after a while and they built their own home. Those kids grew to be such beauties and one recently got married. It’s crazy how time flies! The more life changes I had, the closer I grew to God.

By this time, and in my heart, I was wanting more in my relationship with my beau. I got the nerve to ask him one day where our relationship was going and our ‘friendship’ continued. I began to wonder just how long we would just be friends and began to think perhaps God’s path for me was not with him. I just had to trust God in His plans and just kept on.
