Have you ever thought about why we exist? What is our purpose here on this earth? Our very being has a reason for living and existing here on this earth! God put us here for His purpose and we do have things to do. We have work to do to spread His word, but also work to do to keep ourselves alive and well according to how He created us.
God Himself sent his Son Jesus here as an example of how we should live. It says in Mark 10:33-34 That the Son of Man, which is Jesus Christ, did not come to be served, but He came to serve and to give His life ransom for many. It also says in His word that we need to live like Christ and Christ gave us that perfect example on how to live on this earth, but do we actually do what He wants?
Many of us just go day by day in our lives and just have a routine of work, vacation, school, and play and there’s no purpose. We go on and on and on. But there is a purpose to why we are here. Jesus told His disciples in Matthew chapter 4 verses 19 to follow Him and He would make them fishers of men. It meant that He even had a reason for His disciples to exist, and that was to fulfill His wishes to spread His word. We too must spread His word or how else will it continue? We have some serious work to do on this earth!
1 Corinthians 3:9 says we are His fellow workers. We have a job to do and we must fulfill it. And not only do we have a job to do but we must be trustworthy in doing so. 1 Corinthians 4:2 says this very thing! One must be found trustworthy! In being trustworthy, we have to know our resources and know them well in order to do His work and spread His word. He did not leave us with nothing to go on, but He gave us the Bible so that we could study it, read it, and preach it! His word is His Commandments to us. We have a responsibility to share it!
He Says in Luke 10:2 that the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. He says in 2 Timothy 2:15 to be diligent to present ourselves, approved to God as a workmen who does not need to be ashamed. So to be diligent and not ashamed means to be strong and forthright in what you say and do. It means to not back down or into a corner in confrontation when you know His word is righteous and others want to argue against it. It means to stand up and to keep faith in Him.
Ephesians 2:10 Says, “ For we are His workmanship created in Jesus Christ for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” We must do good work and strive to do the best because we will be held accountable if we do not. A few verses like Galatians 6:4-5, 2 Corinthians 5::10, and Romans 14:12 tells us that we need to examine our own work, that each one will give an account of our deeds in the body, whether they are good or bad and that like in Galatians 6:7, whatever a man sows, he will also reap. We must be careful how we present His word and how we work because when we meet our Lord, we will be judged accordingly and I don’t know of anyone that really wants to go to hell do you?
No one is promised tomorrow for He says that we are just a vapor and we only have the moments we have presently to make sure that we are doing what we are supposed to be doing for Him. We do not live for man nor live for anyone else or anything around us because in the end, it’s just about God and each person. We do not live on this earth with a purpose of staying with man for eternity. We will have either a choice of heaven or a choice of hell and that is either with God or with the devil. He gives us a chance in our lifetime to do what is right and it is up to us to read His word and find out what it is that is expected of us. We have a chance to make it into heaven, and we have to do His work.
In doing His work we also have to take care of our own. He expects us to not just sit around and get hand me downs or free stuff just because we can. Yes, there are some that are incapable of helping themselves and that is where those that can help should! But for those who are truly lazy and just want to just feed off of the system, this is not what God had in mind for you. 1 Timothy 5:8 says, “ But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” A few more verses to read on working so that you can eat and provide are Thessalonians 3:10, Proverbs 28:19, and Proverbs 12:11.
From the very beginning of time, God instructed His people to teach their children so that they would have it on their minds constantly what His commands were and what He expected. How many today are actually teaching their children what He expects? Over and over in the Old Testament days His people would love Him and follow His commandments and statutes, and then they would turn and go against Him. He in turn had told them if they did not obey that they would suffer and they did. He would hand them over to their enemies! Look at our world today! Notice things? He also said if you call upon Me then I will hear and forgive and save you. He always remained faithful and He did so.
Today is really no different. God does not go back on His word and He keeps His promises. People today are either on fire for the Lord or they’re not. But there is a trend that is breaking out in this world that they are returning to the Lord and praise God for that! It is an awakening that we need to do our jobs. It is an awakening that we need to get into His word and just dive in and find out what He wants of us because we have to continue to be faithful and to follow His ways and the only way that we are going to know His ways is to read the Bible and study it. God loves us and wants us to be in heaven with Him. Both heaven and hell are eternal and they will last forever and ever and I honestly do not think that there is a single soul on this earth that really wants to go to hell and burn with fire and suffer for eternity.
I really do not think that any of us can do enough in our lifetime to be approved by God, or can we? We all fall short and we all sin it doesn’t matter who you are. Does not matter if you are a doctor, lawyer, executive, or the President, we re all equal in status in His eyes! We do not know what will happen in those moments that God holds us accountable for what we have said and done, but our hearts is what He is looking into and if we have the right heart, then we will strive to do what He wants. That’s the key. Where is our heart and what are we doing? Are we standing up for His word the way that He would want us to do or pine away from an argument just because we re scared? I have to admit I do. I’ve gotten better over the years because of my knowledge, but I also know that when you push too hard, it can push people away. It’s knowing when and how to be silent and when to be strong. And this comes with time and knowledge. we are God‘s workers and we have a chore to do. God blesses us each with gifts and are we using those gifts the way He would want us to? Take time today and think about the things that you are good at that you are blessed with that you enjoy to do and dive into His word and search your very being for ways that you can be a worker for the Lord!
