My Life Story My Way Day 55

I mentioned in an earlier post that I was weed eating and stepped into an open water meter hole. As the years progressed, my lower back seemed to get worse. The Dr. I had at that time suggested going to a Physical Therapist or Chiropractor and since we were friends with a Chiropractor and had a cousin who was a PT along with her husband, I was confused with which one to choose.

The Dr. said I had Disc Degenerative Disease and when I asked him which he would go to, he said the Chiropractor for himself but I would benefit from either one. So I made the decision to see the Chiropractor. My issues seemed to be more the bone structure than muscle at that time so my lack of knowledge in difference between the two made my decision.

The Chiropractor took X-rays and worked the lower back but I also had him take X-rays of the neck since it had been bothering me as well. The neck actually looked worse than the lower lumbar. He showed me the X-ray and the curve of the neck was going the opposite direction that it should be. He ordered MRI’s and we met again.

Since my bones are Degenerative, those Few months every year of looking down as I painted pumpkins and packed produce probably caused the spine in the neck to be trained in the opposite direction.

As far as the lower lumbar, wearing the improper shoes, sitting Indian Style while painting and standing on concrete probably aided in those issues. He told me these issues would take awhile to reverse since it also took a while to reverse from original stance.

I continued with the Chiropractor until I had another Dr. appointment and they viewed the X-rays and MRI’s and asked how I was doing. I honestly was getting worse but the Chiropractor told me it would take time. With their suggestion on maybe trying a Physical Therapist, I went to my cousin’s husband since she became a professor and said about the same things as the Chiropractor but manipulated the spine a little differently.

It seemed like I went back and forth between the two for several years just trying to find relief. I let my body go because whatever I did, I hurt. I gained a lot of weight and always blamed that on my issues, but the PT looked at me one day and said, “Quit that! It might not help but I have skinny people in here as much as bigger bodied and they have the same issues. Doesn’t matter if you are big or little; it’s the bone makeup and inherited issues that cause most of these problems.”

He gave me a little more confidence in myself and I knew I had to do something! I was a stress eater as well. With the health and other life issues, I had to spiritually and physically do better. So many factors leading me more to a stronger faith and I welcomed Him into my heart more and more.
