Bullied And Pulled Closer To God

Young age and teenager age can be rough! I understand the concept of being bullied all too well. That is a topic that makes me cry when I think of others being bullied. I was no stranger to the verbal abuse growing up!

It began in grade school when I had to get glasses. There was a limited selection of glasses for my shape of face and when I had to pick a pair, there was only one pair that fit and they ugly black rimmed ones that I hated! I went to school and some called me “four-eyed fool,” That opened the door to more comments like, “suey pig” and such. I’d go home crying and on top of my own feelings of not fitting in, the thoughts of killing myself edged its way to the thinking cerebrum of my brain.

In those moments, poetry prayers to God gave me more comfort than I could imagine. I felt a peace in writing and He always came through with letting me know He loved me. He was gently pulling me closer to Him and I was growing spiritually more and more every day without even realizing it then. Later in life after high school, there were a couple who actually came to me apologizing and I was grateful for their honesty and hearts of growth. We all go through something that others may have no clue about but God’s plans are a always bigger than our own!

Someone a few months ago revealed to me that they too were bullied and they were not only mentally bullied but physically bullied. Bullied to the point of actually trying to kill themself several times Popular people would give that individual toilet swirlies and more. My heart broke for that person because they took their anger out on others because they didn’t know how to handle their situation and the school officials didn’t take that person seriously or help. I think about this situation and am further thankful for God’s path for me earlier on in life than this poor individual. Their path is His way now, but damage has to be a healing process. We each are on a different path and at different levels and we who are further should have more patience and understanding. I am thankful to our Lord for being able to talk with this person today. Some don’t get that chance and it’s too late.
