Tender leaves begin to emerge,
For springtime is in the air;
Green grass peaks out from the earth,
As if on a secret dare.
Buds form in clusters of brown,
Hiding rich colors of yellow and pink;
A few more days of warm weather,
They’ll open to blooms in a wink.
Birds chirp as they fly around,
Hopping from branch to branch;
Calling in their mates,
For their hopeful loving chance.
Water drips from the gutter,
After a cool gentle rain;
The drops fall on sleeping roses,
Waiting to expand from their strain.
The blahs of winter are fading,
With every smile you see;
For The Lord brings forth seasons,
Of each kind for you and me!
