Being Blessed With A True Friend

Jan 15, 2020 | Blog, Life

There was one tomato field that I think was a mile long! We would have races to see who could pick the most halves. My hubby today still thinks he beat me that day but I remember beating him by at least 1. I can’t remember exactly how many but I do know it was either 108 or so halves that morning. As you know, there are no bathrooms or homes close by a country farm field. If anyone saw you sneak into a corn field or woods, you better hide behind a tree or run the opposite direction you went in or the whole crew would bomb you with whatever was being picked! There was a lot of entertainment on a farm and sometimes you came across wild animals, slithering snakes, turtles, and plant eaters. One day in particular my boss “friend” found a huge tomato worm. I hated those things with a passion! He decides to put it on my back and still laughs about it today telling the story of my dance and crying as I screamed for anyone to get it off!

I still shiver about that! The more he picked, the more I fell. Seems strange now, but God’s plans for me were bigger than my own! God put him in my path for a reason. We spent many days talking about my personal feeling and my life as it unfolded. God molded me and created me as Genesis stated, but here on this earth, my “friend” and boss molded me! He listened and was there to guide me through my feelings and challenges at home and school. He was able to give me a better perspective on things and even one day sang a special song to me. You know how couples have a favorite song? This was our first favorite. I’d share it but this is a private song just for us so I apologize for leaving you wonder.

My “friend” was not my only boss. He had two other brothers that were equal partners and the other two as well as a few friends would give me advice on how to win my future hubby over. I was grateful and still am today, but I have to give God all the true credit. You see, my prayers to God in poetry form and talking to Him kept getting stronger.

As life would progress, down deep there was something I needed. There was a pull to our Lord that grew stronger as I grew up but I had no idea exactly what it was or what to do. I trusted in my poetry to speak my heart. I trusted in God to guide me where He wanted me and in my mind, that was with my true “friend” He blessed me with.
