When you have those “AhhHaa” moments after you discover something, you are usually impacted by whatever has peaked your interest or touched you. I had so many of those moments when I broke free from the chains of destruction. My life was barreling on with His Word and I was learning how to tame my excitement without making everyone mad and uncomfortable to be around me.
I was not going to falter away from my path yet some things put a scratch on the barrel as I tumbled. It was the year after I was baptized and saw that the state of IN was trying to put a rainbow on the IN license plates. Oh I was so happy! They were putting God onto the license as His promise was to never flood the earth again.
Nope! I heard a post on Facebook on how it was the new sign for the LGBT groups and by putting the rainbow on the license plates, they would be giving this group a portion to support them. Now don’t get me wrong, God says to love all but that is only a part of His Word and not all as a whole. He says to love all and hate sin. He hates sin.
I about flipped my barrel! The Bible, HIS WORD not mine, says in Galatians 6:1 to gently correct the wrong less you yourself be tempted and become guilty. He also says to stand fast in His Word. In the Old Testament of Sodom and Gomorrah, God destroyed the city because of this sin of homosexuality. Period. He hated this sin.
Again in 1 Corinthians 6:9, He specifically lists those who will not inherit the new Kingdom of God and those listed included those who commit sexual sin and even adulterers. He created man and woman and told them to be fruitful and multiply; He did not say to make out with the same sex and enjoy. Period!
My husband and I were sitting in a waiting area to eat when two young homosexuals began kissing on the opposite side of us. That is not appropriate for even a God-given couple who are female and male much less two of the same sex. Grossed me out!
When I saw this on Facebook about the license plate, it enraged me that they would make all IN citizens buy a license plate and give our money to these groups God did not support! I know that there are many out there who support these groups and that is at their own conscience, but you can’t force others to support what is not their belief.
I might be trudging on some sensitive hills and rolling over some stumps here, but I in my heart know what God expects of me. He talks of this behavior as sin and even in the Old Testament in Leviticus 20:13, God said this homosexual act was detestable and they should be put to death as a capital offense!
2 Peter 3:3 says in the end times there will be mockers following their own desires. In Genesis 9:13 He specifically set that rainbow as a promise that He would never flood the earth as He had with Noah. That rainbow is God’s symbol and they have mockingly used it for something He hates.
Now, God says in 2 Timothy 2:25 to love all and that is a fact, but He says to gently correct as to save their souls from the wrath of hell by finding the truth. Today, there are many who are living their way and not thinking about God and what He wants. Today, there are many mockers. Look around and listen to the news. All around us there are those who have lost heart and love for one another.
The love of self and trying to say, “God loves me although I sin and you are judging me,” has been the common thread being wound up around each barrel as it rolls. Jesus has got to be pretty mad up there.
Some say the world is ending. Others say it is going to get worse before it gets better. Some say we need to get back to Jesus. I say we do need to get back to Jesus. There is so much evil and hate right now. COVID has attached to those threads, people killing each other, property being burned or destroyed, elderly people being beaten on the sidewalks, and just sin tying knots onto those threads choking the barrels out.
No matter what, that barrel will be in His Kingdom one day and the threads will be worn off as the barrel rolls. Are you a part of that thread building or are you in a sturdy barrel bound for His glory? His Word will never succumb to earthly pleasures and selfish desires. God loves, but He gave His Word for us to live by.
