No Procrastinating Prayers

I apologize for not writing much lately! Had a couple of family emergencies that took my immediate attention. In a few of my Stories, I mentioned our kids having dirt bike accidents. This time it was my husband!

He has been through a lot in the past two months and this time, he realizes he is not as young as he used to be! I thank the Lord for his being ok, no broken bones, and his good humor! That being said, he had a concussion and to this day has lost an hour to hour and a half of his memory right after the accident.

I have experienced so many close family members and friends who have passed on, but this incident shook me up a bit. God’s word where He says we are just a vapor, in James 4:14, made its way to my lips that day. I cannot imagine a day without my husband.

I thought of that and you know, when we experience life events like these, we are also being guided by Christ to think of others. I have many family and friends who have lost a spouse and my heart goes out to them. Don’t get me wrong here. I always had great sympathy for these loved ones, but just even more so the experience of the situation gave me even a stronger sympathy.

Let me give you another example of what I mean. Our mama cat went missing one day and never returned. I was attached to that cat! She was just one of the most loving and affectionate cats I ever had! I was sad thinking of her one day right after and I stopped to look at the year that fell on my thumb.

I thought to myself, “Here I am crying over my cat and there are families out there missing family members. There are children taken and teens sold.” And here I am crying over my cat!” I had a deeper perspective for others than I had before. You hear stories and really don’t know those poor families, but now I pray more for those!

Our experiences help us to see that others may have more serious issues! Along with the Story on praying, I learn as I go that I can’t just say I am going to pray for someone, but I am following through more that I had before.

Another verse that comes to my heart is that of Philippians 2:3. He says to put others before ourselves! Wouldn’t this just make this sad sick world right now a better place? Our lives are just a vapor and in an instant, we can be gone from this earth. Before my vapor disappears, I have to work harder to keep other’s needs before mine.
