Are You Willing To Hear His Word?

Stepping back and doing more listening has been hard for me. I just want to shout out what God says and shout it loudly! But, I have learned that many do not want to hear His word for what it is. When you are trained to believe one way, it is hard changing that belief.

God says, not I, that we must not repetitively pray over and over one prayer as the pagans do. He tells us to go to our rooms and pray in secret; quietly because our prayers really belong to Him. Now, He does tell us to meet together as the disciples did every beginning day of the week as they did.

On Sundays we meet to hear His word and pray together, but not repetitively. But at home, we are to talk to Him and make our requests known to Him. I was so trained with repetitiveness that I found myself drifting to those couple prayers habitually and not really talking to Christ. I was just mouthing prayers that meant nothing actually. I had to learn how to concentrate and think about each phrase.

So I had to really work at that on a personal level and take a look at where I was and where everyone around me came from. I used to be where many were in their path, but now my direction was more focused. We all are not on that same path or it would be pretty crowded right? Actually, it would be awesome that everyone was walking together! But that’s not how He meant it to be.

It has become easier to see what was, now that I am on a new level. And I see where others could be annoyed or offended easily at those who are further in their walk. Finding the balance to be comfortable differs with each person.

You can pretty well determine in a conversation who is willing to listen and who is not. You learn really quick who you can talk to God about and in a way, it seems sad. My prayer is that all listen and find that grace I found. I can’t explain the feeling or put into words the awe and peace I felt.

God has a plan for each of us and it can only be each heart on their own to seek Him. I love coming across those that are willing to hear and have also been in the same shoes as myself! Christ is my passion and when I hear about Him, talk about Him, and praise Him through reading or song, my soul is lifted and I can keep clearing my path.

One thing I keep in mind is the words I paraphrase from the book I bought about communicating with others is “Remember that even though some believe differently, there is only ONE God, ONE Christ, and ONE Holy Spirit and most believe in the same Trio as you.” And this is true. There is only one Bible and His Word is His for us to follow.
