My Life Story My Way Day 63

A follow up from the last Story on saints, I found also that even saints were considered not to be worshipped. Saints and angels are said to be of the same nature, but they are not. Angels do the work of The Lord according to Hebrews 1:13-14. God says, “But to which of the angels has He ever said, “Sit at My RIGHT HAND, UNTIL I make YOUR ENEMIES A FOOTSTOOL FOR YOUR FEET”? Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?

Angels were sent by God to help His saints who were doing His work here on earth. They are spiritual beings and not human. I recall several times when people have died and some say they gain their wings. According to a God’s Word, these people are waiting in Hades for His coming.

That issue concerned me as well. The religion I was in believed when you died that you were already in Heaven with God and gained wings to be an angel because they believed when you were baptized as a baby that if you died, you were already considered to be saved. I had always believed this. This bothered me as well. No where in the Bible did it say this.

I recall one individual who was baptized as a baby and lived their life so sinful. Drugs and alcohol were their priority and they slept around with a different person on a regular basis. The filthy language that came from their mouth reminded me how I used to be and how it must have looked to my husband when we started dating. I am thankful I hadn’t slept around or did drugs and alcohol, but I was shamed when I heard them talk.

When that individual died, I heard so many comments on how that person is now in Heaven and has wings. In Acts 2:38, God was specific when Peter told the people to “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.”

To be baptized, we must recognize our sin and change. Even if it were possible to gain wings, our sin had to be recognized by ourself and we had to confess to Jesus our wrongdoing. It was absurd and I knew this concept was so wrong. This added more confusion to what I had been taught and the responsibility I had for teaching these future generations His true Word.

My guilt ate at me and I know it caused rifts between family and friends, but at that point, I knew I was convicted and responsible to God. When it comes to stand before God, it is my soul not other’s that will either send me to Heaven or hell.

Angels are not human and not to be even considered higher than Jesus or God. In Colossians 2:18, God is specific when He says, “Let no one keep defrauding you of your prize by delighting in self-abasement and the worship of the angels, taking his stand on visions he has seen, inflating without cause by his fleshly mind.”

He told Satan when he tried to tempt Him to go away because it was written to “worship the Lord YOUR GOD and serve HIM ONLY“ – ONLY! When John heard and saw those things of Heaven in Revelation 22, an angel itself told John in verses 8-9 to not even bow to that angel. The angel said it itself was a servant of God and to only WORSHIP GOD! Revelation 19:10 says the same thing.

Are there angels today as there were before Christ died? I believe there is and scripture backs it up. Hebrews 13:2 says to not forget to show hospitality to strangers because you never know if that stranger is an angel. I know that God Himself does not walk this earth any longer and Jesus is at the right hand of His Father God ruling right now and preparing a place for us as He promised, but I do believe His servants, not any human nor any of our dead loved ones, walk among us.
