My Life Story My Way Day 44

Mar 23, 2020 | Blog, Health, Life

During these years when the kids were young, I had many health issues. From childhood on I had allergies that back in those days the family Doctor didn’t push. I was sick with sore throats and coughs a lot. My junior year of high school I was out a full week of school due to pneumonia.

When I married and switched Doctors, I insisted to be checked and went regularly for allergy shots. This was very helpful due to being ourdoors on the farm and at home in the garden or cutting grass regularly. I went faithfully every week for my shots!

I seemed to always have issues with fibromyalgia and spent a lot of days hurting. I was never officially tested with a specialist but the Doctors I saw said I had it. I refused going to specialists due to them telling me if I went to these specialists they would put me on medications that increases weight gain and I was already struggling with weight due to family history and stress eating!

I recall many days crawling to the house due to severe abdominal cramping. When it hit, I would crawl up in a ball and use the heating pad for relief. Advil or Tylenol was my friend for that and the back and neck pain I periodically had. For a while, it seemed like the over-the-counter options were becoming my favorite meal for the day.

By 2004 I had enough. I told my gynecologist something had to give so he scheduled an exploratory surgery of sorts to see what could be done. They put a scope through a hole near the belly button, cut me open in the lower abdomen and ended up performing a partial hysterectomy and scraping some endometriosis. He said the fibrous tissue was removed. After healing, I noticed an immediate difference and was able to continue on with only a bit of scar tissue issue.

Periodically I had other lipoma, fibrous cysts, and such removed from different areas but the back pain increased! I could not handle strong medications and the Tylenol I took caused liver issues. I knew that Advil was limited so I spent many days not being able to move and either icing or heating for some kind of relief.

I was told to hold off as long as I could for surgery and then told if you wait that your body becomes adjusted to thinking you had pain. I was so confused on what to do but it made sense at the time to hold off due to later year post surgeries and age. I was limited on what I could do but had to do them anyhow. Who else was going to grow my garden and take care of things?

I did a lot of soul searching and praying during this time and through each physical or mental challenge, there always seemed to be a lesson He was teaching me. I listened to a lesson taught by our preacher on Job and had an “ahh hahhh” moment.

I had so much to learn about Him and thought God was punishing me for some reason all the time. But I had a new perspective! The more I sought God and His Word, the more the devil wanted me to fail and give in. And as much as I was thirsty for His Word, the more I decided to fight!

The finger’s of God’s Word were being rooted deep and I began to understand more than I ever had! I had to do my part and live right. I had to be strong and never give up. It wasn’t just about sitting back and letting Him, it was about me making an effort and being stronger in my faith.

I have since had surgery on a Morton’s Neuroma, impacted wisdom teeth, neck, lower lumbar, left shoulder, right knee, and recent nose. In future posts I will discuss these surgeries. I continue to have issues, but my faith in Christ has grown stronger! His light shines upon us!
