Never Forgot An Act Of Kindness

Today I heard that someone I know has passed away. I am brought back to when I started kindergarten and I transferred busses to get to school. The bus was always crowded and her brother, who was a high schooler, was always willing to share his seat with me. I could always depend on him to be nice and let me sit whereas many wouldn’t scoot over to make room.

We all tend to remember when someone does something special like that even though we also remember the bad. God tells us to be examples of Jesus and to live like Him. That is found in many verses such as Philippians 2:5-11.

Another person that I will not forget is an older man from our church who bought me a lemon meringue pie at one of the bingo/euchre parties the church would have at their gym across from the church. Lemon meringue was my favorite and I think I might have been 7 or 8 years old at that time. I remember staring at the pie slices on a table and him asking which one I liked and he bought one and handed it to me.

I took this concept to heart and try to be that good example that they were to me. I am so thankful for those nice people and their representation of Christ. I pray for this family in their loss and hope that as this world has been changing from this kind of giving to a more selfish path that somehow there is a rise to change for the better – God’s way!
