I once heard a new dad say that he wished he had instructions for his newborn like the instructions that came in his computer box. To his surprise, I responded by letting him know that there were instructions. Yes, we humans do come with instructions and they are all found in the Bible.
Some people do not know about God or believe in His Bible. The Bible and history is so clear on God’s creation of man and it amazes me on how some would think He would leave us with nothing to live by. Like some instructions, some are difficult to understand. And so it is with the Bible. But, we find resources like phone numbers and emails to call when we get into a crunch. So, do not be discouraged, just simply call someone in your life or community who is faithful or search the internet!
God gave His children so many laws to live by in the Old Testament. When He sent His Son Jesus to instruct us and die for our sins, He yet left a whole new Book for us to follow. He promised we would not be left alone. He gave His followers instructions to write down for us!
For example, in the Old Testament in Proverbs chapter 22 verse 4, it reads that humility and the fear of the Lord brings wealth and honor and life. So, we can teach our children to be humble by telling the truth and admitting when they are wrong by being an example to them. When we do something wrong, perhaps writing a letter or giving someone a card expressing that you are sorry will let those around see that you are humbling yourself and they too can learn from your example. And what did that verse say would happen if you followed these instructions? It said in return you would have wealth, honor, and life!
In the New Testament, Jesus instructs us on Love, worrying, marrying, divorce, giving, judging others, and so much more! What more can you ask for on how to raise your children? Jesus says in Matthew chapter 22 verse 34 that the greatest commandment is to Love Him first then all others. People tend to get caught up in every day life and forget how important it is to communicate and let others know how much you care. Our heart is the core of our existence and we should let others know they are appreciated and loved. Follow His instructions and give someone and unexpected hug, say something nice to make someone feel good, or simply slip them a note card in their book, lunchbox, or even in the mail to let them know they are appreciated. Children learn by example and we are all His children.
When Jesus died He said He would not leave us completely alone and that He was sending an advocate, or better known as the Holy Spirit. The important thing is that we believe and have faith. We must encourage each other every day as it states in Hebrews chapter 3 verse 13.
So, for those of you who need instructions on how to raise your children, how to live your own lives, or how to help others, just pick up the Bible and read it. It is an awesome resource for just about anything you need help with. And if you ever run across someone like I did who wished their kids came with instructions, let them know that they do and tell them to check out the greatest book ever written called the Bible.
