I step off the aggregate patio,
Into a pile of air-blown leaves;
The trail of colorful browns and red,
Outline our home in hills and weaves.
Like the limbs swaying in the wind –
Allowing their weight to blow away,
My eyes fill up with His beauty in tow;
And my worries lift from the day.
My feet follow the snake pattern of leaves,
Until I see the lake in the valley below;
I walk on through the roll of leaves,
Jumping slightly at my cat’s meow of “hello.”
She follows me down to the dam of the lake,
As I take in the beauty of what I see;
I pick her up to share in the wonder,
And she looks around and seems to agree!
Clouds were dancing all over the water,
Like puffs of marshmallows changing form;
Trees stood in place on the edge,
Not changing but stating their norm.
I continued my venture on around the lake,
To a different dance of sunlight in the mix.
Corn stocks mirrored the opposite side,
Giving new meaning to a peaceful God-fix.
My kitty leads the way back up,
And I quicken my pace to close the gap;
She senses my eagerness to catch her,
And barely escapes my hands clenching trap.
I laughed out loud as she scaled up a tree,
My eyes distracted from her direction;
Those clouds in the water behind the tree grove,
Was like an itch to a healing infection!
