Cardinal Misconception

Jan 11, 2020 | Faith

There are so many who believe if you see a red cardinal bird, especially right after a loved one has died, that it is the loved one coming back for a visit. People want to be comforted when they lose a loved one, but God says to only believe in His word. To believe a cardinal is a loved one is a misconception of His word,

God’s word tells us in the story of The Rich Man and Lazarus that when we die, there is no coming back. In Luke 16:19-31, God says, “…The beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side . The rich man died…In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away…he called to him, “Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.” Abraham replied, “Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.”

He answered, “Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.” Abraham replied, ”They have Moses and the prophets; let them listen to them…”

The dead in Christ will rise first. This is found in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 and only then will the dead rise. No where in His word does it say when we die we become a bird, anything, or anyone else. If it were so, He would have told us so. He says not to add to or change His word and these verses are found in the first chapter of Galatians and the last paragraphs of Revelation.

He says He is our comforter ( 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 ) and He wants us to go to Him and to not believe in anything or anyone else. If we find comfort in thinking a bird is our loved one then the focus on Him and His word saying we die once then the final judgement seems a lie and God does not lie ( Hebrews 9:27 !). He also says to not believe in witchcraft and that is written in Galatians 5:19-20 as well as in Acts 19:17-20. God says there is no going back that we have the faithful to listen to. Find comfort in Christ not cardinal misconceptions!
