Darkness

Dec 28, 2020 | Poetry

The sound of the refrigerator running,
Echoes through the house where I sit;
There is a pillow under my elbow,
Riding up into my armpit.

Popping noises fill my ears,
From an air purifier near the wall;
As it pulls dust from the air,
A spark goes off like a fireball.

The dark of the moon has made,
The inside of the house to turn black:
I sit here in pure darkness,
Thanking Jesus for nothing I lack!

I am able to hear the refrigerator,
To see the blue light and spark;
I find warmth from the cold outside,
And a peace within this dark.

I can breathe in His pure air,
And relax upon this comfy couch;
I am blessed and so happy-
I lack nothing nor am a grouch!

This silence and darkness is a welcome,
So I can praise my Lord for this day;
May my mind focus solely on Him,
And my eyes not wonder or stray!
