Majestic Mountains

Sep 8, 2020 | Poetry

Our drive from Indiana to Washington,
Was the longest trip I ever took,
From the hills and knobs we started, Passing every mountainside brook.

Corn fields along the way were brown,
Irrigation systems sprawled from one end to the next;
I took so many videos and pictures –
That my battery went low and I couldn’t text!

The drive from Montana through Washington,
Was as dynamic as could be;
As soon as you look to the mountain top,
You’d turn the bend to encounter a desert dry sea!

The rivers that followed the base of mountains,
And the lake-filled valleys between,
Caused my heart to skip a moment,
And behave with the giddiness of a teen.

God’s masterpiece of earth filled my eyes,
Thankfulness filled up my heart;
How blessed I was to be able to see,
His perfection that is simply way off the chart!
