My Life Story My Way Day 59

Apr 30, 2020 | Blog, Life

I apologize for getting a little off track with my Life Story. That is the reason why I titled it with the “My Way” in it. I know it does not fit the chronological order that stories are normally suppose to be written by, but I guess you can say my story is more a blog-type.

I want to take you back to our kids as teens. These were busy times. My husband made a life changing decision to pull away from the family Dairy & Produce corporation and work a warehouse job. On the side, we still farmed and grew alfalfa for hay and some straw.

With all of my aches, pains, and other issues, I felt it wise to get off of standing on concrete and decided to stay home. I was staying very busy with the challenges of my family, the farm work at our home, and everything else and it seemed a bit overwhelming even with the changes.

I did not ask much of our kids when it came to helping around the house. In the winter, they did have chores but the summer months were just as crazy for them as for us. Our daughter started her day with working at the Dairy & Produce farm while our son worked for a Doctor on his goat farm.

They both would come home from those long days and either have to help us with our hay and straw or other family and neighbors who needed help. They really stayed busy and did not have too much time for play. I hated asking for their help because on those slow days, they needed a break!

They did help and have their chores in the winter. When I went to call for either one of them, sometimes they were called by a mix of their names. For example, if our son was named Alex and our daughter Falecia, I’d end up calling for either AleFale or FaleAle. I’ve heard many moms say they do the same thing.

We named our children certain names but somehow I’d mix them up! Sometimes I’d holler for one then sometimes the other. One day being unspecific on which one, I began to ask if one of them would do something, they both put their finger on their own nose. I looked at them oddly while one laughed and the other pouted.

In amazement, they finally figured out a way to not argue about who was going to do the chore: the first one to touch their nose got lucky! It was kind of funny until my husband started touching his nose!

As busy as we stayed, we always managed going to church, going to Bible class, sitting down together for supper for the most when all was on time, and praying as a family together. That phrase “A family who prays together stays together” is true.

We had our arguments and roof collapsing echoes, but God’s love always pulled us through and continues to hold us today. I don’t think there is a family out there with no problems of some sort. Some differ for sure, but faith is what holds us together. The more life experiences I had, the stronger God’s hold on me got. The experience I had, the more I sought!
