With this world in such turmoil right now, many people are turning to God and asking Him why. But actually what we should be doing is asking Him what we can do to make things better. He gave us instructions many many many many years ago about how we should live and how we should treat others by giving us His Bible. In His Bible, He tells us, even from the beginning, that there are consequences to our actions – or should I say, consequences to our non-actions.
In Leviticus 26, God is very specific in His word that for those who obey Him and follow His commands that there will be a list of good things to happen. His chosen would be able to eat their bread, there will be peace in the land, there will be protection, and there would be rain in it’s season to help things grow. In other words, if His people followed Him and lived righteously, they would be blessed!
But then from verse 14 on, He lists things that will happen if they did not obey Him and did not observe all of His commandments. He says in verse 16 that He would appoint terror over those who disobey. He would cause a wasting disease and fever which would consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart. He said that when the seeds are sewn the enemies will eat it.
In verse 17, He says that He will set His face against them and they shall be defeated by their enemies. Those who hate them shall reign over them. If after all of these things happen and His people still do not obey, then He will punish them even seven times more for their sins. Verse 19 says He will break the pride of their power and make their heavens like iron and earth like bronze – strength shall be spent in vain for their land shall not yield its produce nor shall the trees of the land yield their fruit.
And listen carefully to this verse particularly: Verse 21 states that if we walk contrary to Him and are not willing to obey Him, He will bring on plagues seven times more according to our sins. He would send beasts among them that would rub their children, destroy their livestock, and make them few in number. Their highways would be desolate.
once again, in verse 24, if they still did not obey then he would punish them seven times even more! He would bring the sword against them and vengeance, he would send pestilence among them, and they would be delivered into their enemies. He would cut off their supply of bread and they would never be satisfied with they ate.
Each time they disobeyed and they were still contrary, then he would promise to chastise them seven times more. And in verse 28 He promises that he will walk contrary to them in fury! They would be made to eat the flesh of their sons and daughters. Everything in their high places would be destroyed and he would cast their carcasses and lifeless forms onto their idols. His soul would abhor them!
In verse 37, it says that they would stumble over one another and they would have no power to stand before their enemies. They would perish among the nations and the land of their enemies should eat them up and those who are left should waste away in their iniquity and their enemies land and in their father’s iniquities they shall waste away.
We do live by the New Testament but the Old Testament is there for learning. He said in verse 40 that if they confessed their iniquity and the iniquity other fathers, with their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Him and that they had walked contrary to Him, and their other sins, then He would remember the covenant He made with Jacob, Isaac, and Abraham. He said that, only then, would He not cast them away, nor abhor them, nor destroy them, and not break the covenant with them.
There are so many people today that are trying to change the way of the Lord and they are living against His Word. We are instructed to love all people and to gently lead them to His ways. In loving someone, it means to show them in God’s word where it convicts their hearts from some thing they are doing that is not correct.
For example, if you see a teenager stealing some money, then you have a moral responsibility to show that teenager in His Word where it says those who steal have no part of Heaven. This verse is found in 1 Corinthians 6:9–11. It also says in that same verse that sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals, greedy people, drunks, slanderers, and robbers will not inherit the kingdom of God.
That is a whole long list of people in this world right now who God says, not me, but they will not inherit the kingdom of God. There are people out there right now who will sexually harm a child or kill someone. This world is getting to accept those people who do sexually immoral acts and they ignore it making others believe it should be accepted. No! God warns us what will happen when we do not follow His Word.
This world needs to be revived by His Word. They were correct when they said that Christians were in a war because it is so true. Those in this elite group are making a big splash, but I believe there are more Christians out there that can make a bigger wave. We have to be a good example to others and we have to do whatever we can before it is too late to help others find The Lord.
Today we are faced with a horrible virus, with things that are happening in our government that are scary, a possible outbreak of some stupid monkeypox, people flooding our country illegally, and the evil that is wanting to squash us. Our preacher teaches that in the end times some will still be here, and this is written for in the end times some of us who are still here will be caught up with those who have done passed before us.
No one knows when the end will be. That being said, we know that one day it will and that there are only two choices for our souls: heaven or hell. It is up to each individual to seriously think about the consequences that God is going to have for us in the end times. In the Old Testament there were many kings who were good rulers and then there were some that were horrible rulers and in each time there were consequences to their actions. If we look about those days and think about what is happening today, it’s really not much different.
We have a responsibility to stand up and do what is right. We cannot give in to the evil that is out there nor can we let others believe that it is correct. We have to gently explain that these things will cost them their soul in the end. It is not about what makes a person happy but what makes God happy. What outcome do you want for your soul? Are you willing to sacrifice what you do here on this earth today and pay for the consequences of your actions? Heaven and Hell are both eternal.
