I have been reading the Bible all over again and each time I read it, I see new things and understand more things. I always loved the verses in Genesis 18 where the Lord told Abraham that his wife Sarah, in her early 90’s and he 99, was going to have a baby and named him Isaac. Within herself (not aloud), she laughed as she was saying, “After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?” as she was listening to the conversation from inside the tent as they were outside. The Lord heard her laughter!
The Lord asked Abraham why his wife Sarah was laughing. In fear, of the knowledge that she didn’t laugh out loud and she was thinking these things, she responded and said that she did not. But he responded, “ yes, I heard you laughing.” So thinking on this, He does say that He knows our thoughts before we even ask in prayer what we need. This is found in Matthew 6:8 when He says, “ Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.”
Before I go any further let me explain that the “Father” in this verse is not like your biological father but The Lord God. He loves us so much and He created us! Just think about that a second. He heard her laughing within herself. He does know our every thought and our every feeling. He knew when Adam and Eve were hiding after their sin of eating from the tree of life that they were told not to.
In Romans 8:27 He says, “And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.” We are His saints because we, on this earth, do His will and His work. When He was telling His disciples that He had to go away, He said that He would not leave them alone and He would send his Holy Spirit, who intercedes for us. The Holy Spirit is part of Jesus Christ and our Father God. If the Holy Spirit is searching our hearts then he knows our thoughts and our ways in order to communicate this back to Jesus Christ who goes on our behalf to God.
In Psalms 94:11, it says that The Lord – knows the thoughts of a man, that they are but a breath. In Psalms 139:2, it reads, “You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar” Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and a spirit, of joints and the marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” His word cuts into our souls and He knows everything that we may think, everything that we may do, our hearts, and our laughter.
Matthew 9:4 says, “But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts?” Everyone really needs to think about this. It doesn’t matter whether you believe in Him or not, He created us and He is real. He knows when people reject and mock Him and one day, He says every knee will bow to Him and answer for their actions. And if you honestly think about it, no scientific explanation nor evolution junk can explain how human life came about. They want to say that it just so happened that some strange reactions created man. But if that’s the case, how in the world did these elements come on this earth in the beginning to even allow this to occur? Honestly, He created everything in the beginning and I encourage you to read those first chapters of Genesis.
It’s awesome to know that we were created for His purpose and that He stays in touch with us even through our thoughts and prayers because it keeps us in line and honest. And what is scarier yet, is that the devil also knows your thoughts and if people are not careful, the evil one will take you over. If you read the story of Job, you will see that the devil knew that Joe was a righteous man and lived God’s ways.
The devil wanted to try to cause Job to fall. He did everything he could to make him stumble by taking his possessions, burning down his home and killing his family, causing a division between he and his wife to the point to where the wife ran off, and he also took his health. But all through these trials that the devil put upon Job, Job held strong to the word of the Lord and the love of God. Now Job questioned the Lord and didn’t understand which I think most of us would probably do, but God allowed these things to happen, all but the devil to take his life, because He knew Job’s heart.
So many people get angry at God for the bad things that happen in their lives. But in reality, the devil is it faults for many many things. He wants us to turn the wrong way and he wants us to live worldly and not Godly. If you look at this world today and see all the sin and evil that is out there, it makes you sick. God‘s word has held through since the beginning and it always will be! There are so many divisions right now and we see so many people mocking the Lord.
The gays and homosexuals use the sign of the rainbow and mock the Lord who created that rainbow as a new covenant to Noah. God said the children were of heaven and we should become like them and no one should hurt a single one of them or they would suffer the consequences. Today, there are health groups and government officials that love the thought of killing a baby at birth for testing. There are groups out there today killing Christians and abusing children by way of rape and incest. Look at all the human trafficking!
News media and TV commercials as well as movies today try to get it into peoples heads that it’s OK by showing these things and infecting the mind. People lie right and left and when others see that, especially our children, what kind of example is that? But these things are wrong. God said that there are few that will enter His kingdom that He went to build for us. As I grow older I see that this is true and this is sad. God knows every thought and heart. He knows what is happening and He is in charge.
I love the parable in his word where it says that there is a home and when you clean it out and get rid of the evil in it, basically our hearts, then we need to fill it with Him. The evil that leaves will wander around not finding another place and bring back more evil spirits along with him to fill that empty space if you don’t fill it with Him. The Lord knows your thoughts, your heart, and anything and everything about you even to every strand of hair you have on your head. You cannot hide from the Lord.
